Average weekly earnings in Irish distribution and
business services were up by 4.2 % in September 2007

The CSO reported today that average weekly earnings
of full-time employees in Irish distribution and business services
were €708.56 in September 2007, compared with €679.73 in September
2006. This was an increase of 4.2 % in the year. The figures refer
to employees in enterprises with five or more persons engaged.
Average weekly earnings in the distribution sector
were €721.09 in September 2007, compared with a September 2006 level
of €693.75, an increase of 3.9 % in the year.
In the business services sector, average weekly
earnings were €701.44 in September 2007, compared with a September
2006 level of €671.80, an increase of 4.4 % in the year.
The breakdown of earnings into the different
sub-sectors shows:
The highest
average weekly earnings were recorded in the Post and
Telecommunications sub-sector, with a level of €910.96 in
September 2007.
The lowest
average weekly earnings were in the Accommodation and Catering
sub-sector, at €448.84 in September 2007.
