Standard Life Investments had the highest return for Irish pension managed
funds in 2013, according to data from Rubicon Investment Consultants.
Standard Life Investments achieved a return of 19.6% in 2013, while Kleinwort
Benson Investors produced the weakest return, gaining 14.7% over the same
period.
Standard Life Investments took top spot with a return of 1.4% for the month,
while New Ireland propped up the league table with a return of 0.1%. Over the
final quarter of the year, the average managed fund returned 5.0%. Over the
quarter, the Standard Life Investments fund delivered the top-ranking return of
6.0%, while the Kleinwort Benson Investors managed fund was the lowest ranked,
with a return of 4.2%. With ten out of twelve months recording gains, managed
funds returned 16.6% on average during 2013.
The average managed fund return has been a healthy 8.8% per annum over the past
three years. The five-year average return is very strong, at 11.8% per annum.
Irish group pension managed fund returns over the past ten years have been 5.3%
per annum on average, compared with the Irish inflation rate of 1.6% per annum
over the same time horizon.
All of the managed funds surveyed outperformed inflation over this period.
