UK industrial production jumped in July by the
most in 25 years as manufacturing rebounded from the long holiday weekend for
the Queen’s Jubilee. Germany's production rose more than expected in July,
reversing a decline in June.
UK production rose 2.9%, the most since February
1987, after dropping 2.4% in June, the Office for National Statistics said
today. In Germany, industrial output unexpectedly gained 1.3%, separate data
showed. UK manufacturing rose by 3.2% in July.

The seasonally adjusted index of UK manufacturing
fell by 0.5% in July 2012 compared with July 2011. Nine manufacturing sub
sectors fell and four rose. The largest contributions to the month on same month
a year ago, came from the manufacture of chemicals, which fell by 8.0%, followed
by the manufacture of wood & paper products, which fell by 8.4%. The largest
upward contribution came from the manufacture of transport equipment, which rose
