German exports rose by 28.5%
and imports by 31.7% in June 2010 compared with the same month in 2009; After
seasonal adjustment, exports increased by 3.8% and imports by 1.9% on May 2010.
The value of imports was the highest since 1950.
Destatis, the federal statistics
office, reported that Germany exported goods to the value of € 86.5bn and
imported commodities to the value of €72.4bn in June 2010. German exports
increased by 28.5% and imports by 31.7% in June 2010 on June 2009. This was the
highest absolute export value of a month reported since October 2008 (€88.7bn).
The import value for June 2010 was the highest ever reported since the beginning
of compiling foreign trade statistics for the Federal Republic of Germany in
1950.
The foreign trade balance showed a
surplus of €14.1bn in June 2010. In June 2009, the surplus amounted to €12.3bn.
After seasonal adjustment, exports increased the foreign trade balance recorded
a surplus of €12.3bn in June 2010.
According to provisional results
from the Deutsche Bundesbank, the current account of the
balance of payments showed a surplus of €12.9bn in June 2010, which included the
balance of services (– €1.1bn), factor income net (+ €3.3bn), current transfers
(– €2.5bn), and supplementary trade items (– €0.9bn). In June 2009, the German
current account showed a surplus of €12.8bn.
In June 2010, Germany dispatched commodities to the value of €52.6bn to the
member states of the European Union (EU), while it received commodities to the
value of €45.9bn from those countries. Compared with June 2009, dispatches to
the
EU countries increased by 23.5%
and arrivals from those countries by 26.1%. Commodities to the value of €35.7bn
(+22.0%) were shipped to the Eurozone countries in June 2010, while the value of
the commodities received from those countries was €32.5bn (+25.4%). In June
2010, commodities to the value of €16.9bn (+26.6%) were dispatched to
EU countries not belonging to the
Eurozone, while the value of the commodities which arrived from those countries
was €13.4bn (+27.8%).
Exports of commodities to countries outside the EU (third countries) amounted to
€33.8bn in June 2010, while imports from those countries totalled €26.4bn.
Compared with June 2009, exports to third countries increased by 37.3% and
imports from those countries by 42.8%.
